The decision in plain English
Where this fits in your work
Research and reason in a conversation, including a multi-agent mode.
What multi-agent reasoning adds
Grok’s product page describes parallel agents investigating parts of a difficult question and combining their work into a cited answer. That is reasoning within a conversation. Grok Bot is the separate standing-work surface; Grok Build has coding subagents. The API also documents multi-agent research, but its agent-count settings do not establish the count or availability in your chat account.
- Consider it when
- Consider it for live web/X research, uploaded-file analysis and a question that benefits from parallel lines of investigation.
- The limit to keep in mind
- Parallel reasoning helps form an answer; it does not by itself grant permission to act in your accounts. Current multi-agent plan naming is inconsistent across official pages.
- A first task to try
- Give it a research question with a date range. Where available, try multi-agent mode and inspect the sources and disagreements before using the answer.
Choose Grok Bot when the need is a standing connected helper; choose Grok Build for work in a code project.
See Grok Bot →Agent Watch editorial guidance, reviewed . Based on the documented capabilities below; this is a suggested starting task, not a published hands-on test or a performance ranking.
